1913 Born in Maybole
1932-37 Studied at Glasgow School of Art, met Robert Colquhoun (his lifelong partner)
Travelled widely
Moved to London
1943 First solo show, at the Lefevre Gallery
1943-46 Macbryde and Colquhoun shared a studio with John Minton
1947 Evicted from their studio, moved to Essex
1951 'Donald of the Burthens', for which Macbryde and Colquhoun designed sets and costumes
1962 Colquhoun died
1966 Macbryde died
