Throughout the 1960s and 1970s David Jowett Greaves Oxtoby was internationally successful with his paintings, drawings and prints of rock music. In 1980 Oxtoby withdrew from the art world to concentrate on the creation of a substantial museum exhibition based on 1950s and 1960s popular music, withholding all works produced in order to complete the task.
He has now returned to the Redfern Gallery and this drawing of John Lennon and the painting of acoustic blues guitarist, Catfish Keith, are the first recent pictures to be placed on public display for the past 26 years. LP20897 | |
